Journey Progression

Journeys

Soundspace Member Journeys adds an innovative gamified music community designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive journey for aspiring musicians. We provide various paths such as singer/songwriter, instrumentalist, music producer, and more, allowing users to choose their desired path and embark on a personalized musical adventure.

Our target audience includes individuals passionate about music and eager to learn, collaborate, and grow in their chosen field. Our key offerings are personalized musical journeys, a supportive community, mentorship opportunities, and resources tailored to each role's needs.

Journey Progression Overview

Each user's journey on the platform is divided into different stages, each representing a key milestone in their musical development. These stages include tasks, quests, and achievements that allow users to progress, earn experience points (XP), and unlock rewards.

Members progress through a sequence of stages and levels that reflect their growth and achievements in their chosen musical path. Each level requires a certain amount of XP to reach, and users can earn XP by completing tasks, participating in challenges, collaborating with others, and contributing to the community.

Our platform encourages users to learn, collaborate, and grow through a progression system divided into three main stages. Each stage is designed to represent a significant phase in the user's journey within their chosen role. The XP rewards vary according to the complexity and significance of the tasks, thereby motivating users to engage more in their growth.

Community Engagement and Communication

Our Discord community server serves as the central hub for tracking and rewarding progress, communication, collaboration, and engagement among community members. It includes channels for new member introductions, journey discussions, mentorship opportunities, and general music-related conversations. We use features such as custom Discord reactions and role-specific channels to enhance engagement and create a sense of belonging including level-up badges, prestige crowns, roles, achievements, etc.

Journey Stages

Stage 1 - Beginner (Level 1-10):

Users in this stage are learning the basics of their chosen role. They have access to educational materials and resources tailored specifically for beginners.

  • Tasks: Complete educational tasks related to your chosen role (Reward: 10 XP per completed task)

  • Challenges: Participate in simple, practical challenges to apply the skills you're learning (Reward: 20 XP per challenge)

  • Feedback: Submit your work for community feedback and learn from others' perspectives (Reward: 5 XP per feedback received)

Stage 2 - Intermediate (Level 11-20):

This stage involves more collaboration and engagement, as users start to become more comfortable in their role.

  • Collaboration: Work with other community members on projects related to your role (Reward: 30 XP per collaboration)

  • Learning Opportunities: Attend workshops or webinars featuring experienced community members or industry professionals (Reward: 50 XP per workshop/webinar attended)

  • Portfolio Building: Begin creating a portfolio of your work to demonstrate your progress and skill development (Reward: 40 XP per piece added to portfolio)

  • Mentor Interaction: Interact with mentors for personalized advice and guidance (Reward: 15 XP per mentor interaction)

Stage 3 - Advanced (Level 21-30):

At this stage, users are invited to take on complex challenges and contribute more significantly to the community. They're also encouraged to refine their portfolios and prepare for real-world opportunities.

  • Advanced Challenges: Engage in complex challenges that push the boundaries of your skills and knowledge (Reward: 60 XP per challenge)

  • Professional Collaboration: Collaborate with professional or experienced community members, gaining industry insight and networking opportunities (Reward: 70 XP per professional collaboration)

  • Achievements: Earn rewards for your progress and achievements (Reward: 80 XP per achievement)

  • Portfolio Refinement: Continue to build and refine your professional portfolio, showcasing your expertise (Reward: 50 XP per piece added/updated in portfolio)

The journey doesn't stop at Stage 3. Once users reach Level 30, they have the opportunity to prestige, which resets their level but gives them a prestige rank. This introduces a new set of challenges and rewards, keeping the journey exciting and ensuring continuous growth.

XP Calculation and Leveling

Users start at Level 1 with 0 XP. They can gain XP by completing tasks, participating in challenges, submitting work for feedback, collaborating on projects, and interacting with mentors. The amount of XP gained depends on the complexity and importance of the task or activity.

XP thresholds for levels are as follows (for example):

  • Level 1: 0 XP

  • Level 2: 50 XP

  • Level 3: 110 XP

  • ...

  • Level 30: 5,510 XP

XP Tracking

Discord bots or a database can be used to track XP, calculate total XP, and determine when users have leveled up or earned prestige ranks.

  • Discord Bot: Many bots can track XP, calculate total XP, and automatically assign roles based on XP thresholds.

  • Database Integration: For more complex systems or to track data not supported by Discord bots, use a database to store and manage user XP and levels.

Accelerated Progression and Level Placement

Recognizing that some members may join our platform with pre-existing skills and experience, we offer an accelerated progression option for eligible members. This means that they can apply to join the platform at a higher level, bypassing the initial stages of progression if they can demonstrate that they already meet the required competency level.

This is designed to ensure that all members feel challenged and engaged by the platform, regardless of their starting point. Here's how it works:

  • Application: Members interested in accelerated progression submit an application that includes evidence of their skills and experience. This could include a portfolio, references, certifications, or other relevant documentation.

  • Review: Our team of experienced mentors and industry professionals will review the application. They will evaluate the applicant's skills and experience against the criteria for the desired level.

  • Placement: If the review team is confident that the applicant meets the criteria for a higher level, they will be placed accordingly. This allows them to immediately access the resources, challenges, and community features appropriate to their skill level.

This process ensures that all members are appropriately challenged and that the platform remains an engaging and valuable resource for all users, regardless of their starting point. It also respects the time and effort that members have invested in their skills development outside of our platform.

Prestige System

Once a user reaches Level 30, they can choose to prestige. Prestiging resets their level to 1, but they gain a prestige rank. The XP required to level up increases with each prestige rank.

Prestige ranks can be represented on Discord using special roles or badges. These can be assigned manually by an admin or automatically using a bot, depending on your server setup.

Prestige users can be highlighted in server announcements or pinned messages, recognizing their achievement and encouraging other users to strive for similar goals. They can also be featured in marketing materials, demonstrating the value and potential of the platform.

Rewards and Incentives System

Our rewards and incentives system is designed to motivate members and recognize their achievements, fostering a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie within the community. Here's how we celebrate and incentivize progress:

  • Experience Points (XP): For every task, challenge, collaboration, or significant interaction, members earn XP. These points signify the hard work and dedication they've put into their musical journey. Accumulated XP helps members level up, unlocking new opportunities and challenges.

  • Level-Up Perks: As members level up, they unlock exclusive benefits. These include access to advanced resources, specialized channels, and premium community events. Higher-level members may also get priority in community event ticketing, special mentoring sessions, or opportunities to collaborate with seasoned professionals.

  • Prestige Ranks: Upon reaching the highest level, members can opt to prestige, resetting their level but gaining a prestige rank. Prestige ranks come with exclusive rewards such as special badges, unique Discord roles, increased visibility in the community, and advanced mentorship opportunities.

  • Achievement Badges: When members reach significant milestones, complete challenging tasks, or contribute to the community, they earn achievement badges. These badges are displayed on their profiles, highlighting their accomplishments to the community.

  • Community Recognition: Outstanding achievements and contributions are celebrated within the community. This may be in the form of shout-outs during community events, features in newsletters, or highlight posts in our Discord channels.

  • Exclusive Access: Higher-level and prestige members may get exclusive access to limited-space events, early access to new features or resources, and opportunities to beta test and provide feedback on upcoming platform enhancements.

  • Creative Opportunities: As members progress, they get more opportunities to showcase their work, collaborate on high-profile projects, and interact with industry professionals. This could mean a chance to play their music on community radio, contribute to a community album, or even collaborate with well-known artists.

  • Mentorship Privileges: Advanced members may also have the opportunity to become mentors themselves, sharing their knowledge and experience with newcomers and earning additional rewards for their valuable contributions.

Our rewards and incentives system aims to provide a tangible way to recognize the hard work and dedication of our members. It is designed to be inclusive, encouraging, and representative of the diverse talents, interests, and contributions within our community.

Activity Tracking and Verification

Activity tracking and verification are critical for a fair and transparent progression system. Users should understand what actions earn XP and feel confident that their efforts will be recognized.

  • Automated Tracking: Utilize Discord bots or other automated tools to monitor user activity and automatically award XP for certain actions.

  • Manual Submission and Review: For tasks that can't be tracked automatically, users can submit evidence of completion. Moderators or designated community members (like mentors) review these submissions and award XP accordingly.

  • Peer Verification: For collaborative activities, participants could verify each other's involvement or performance.

Discord roles should be used to represent user levels. As users gain XP and level up, their role should be automatically updated to reflect their new level. This can be achieved using Discord bots such as MEE6, Dyno, or similar, which can assign roles based on XP/level thresholds.

Notification and Recognition

When a user levels up or prestiges, the system should notify them and acknowledge their achievement. This can be done through direct notifications or public recognition in the server.

Support and Appeals

Users should have a channel or system where they can ask questions, report issues, or appeal decisions related to XP and leveling.

Monitoring and Support

Admins and moderators should monitor user progress and provide support as needed. This can involve answering questions, resolving issues, giving feedback, or providing encouragement and recognition.

Operations and Management

Scalability is a key consideration for our platform. Designed to handle a growing number of members, we aim to provide a seamless experience even as the community expands. Automation and streamlined processes are implemented to ensure efficient operations and effective management of member interactions, payments, bookings, and other administrative tasks.

Automation platforms such as Zapier should be used to trigger 3rd party actions (such as rewards) for progress and achievements.

Marketing and Sales Strategies

Our strategies focus on member retention, emphasizing the value of the community, the personalized journey experience, and the opportunities for collaboration and networking. We aim to foster a sense of belonging and provide ongoing value to members, encouraging them to continue their musical growth and engage with the community.
